General Tips for Tooth pain relief

Identify The Causes For The Tooth Pain First

Okay, so let’s start with identifying the reasons why your tooth started aching as why search for a tooth pain relief if the exact causes are unknown, indeed (common sense also says, that the methods may vary depending on whether you want abscessed tooth pain relief or broken tooth pain relief, too,  for example)? Non Dental Causes

Yes, there are non-dental causes to the tooth pain as well as dental causes. Well, the non-dental causes are usually the results of the problems with your health in general – problems with the heart, as the most common example. These cases require professional help, and you definitely cannot rely on the over-the-counter medications if the problems are so severe.

Dental Causes

Toothache can occur, for example, because of cavity in your teeth, due to the fracture, chipping or similar physical damage of your teeth, due to the problems with your gum or the bones surrounding the teeth, due to the TMJ, due to the dental abscess, etc.. Those are all dental causes.

Look into the mirror – see if any defects in your teeth or the periodontal areas are visible. Other than that, see, for example, if your teeth start aching only mildly when you eat something cold or hot. If so, one of the possible reasons can be the erosion of the enamel of the tooth. Sometimes, it can mean the irritation of the cavity, though, and sometimes it may be due to the gum inflammation. Most usually, people use general pain killers, or the analgesic, in other words, to relieve tooth pain. Such products include ibuprofen, Anadin Extra, paracetomol and others.. Ibuprofen is great for one reason – it deals with the inflammation and the pain (and inflammation often accompanies toothache), but other products have also been recommended by many other people.

However, you should follow the instructions on those over-the-counter medications very carefully – if you overdose yourself with either of these products, expect only bad consequences. For example, ibuprofen, if taken without any restraint, can be detrimental to your kidney, and acetaminophen at enormous doses is very bad for your liver. Also, if you plan to use two products at the same time – figure out beforehand if they can be combined or not. The stories of people almost dying due to the stupidly wrong usage of these over-the-counter medications are real, so don’t be so careless.

Cold water and sucking in the air can also help, sometimes, – although don’t expect these to be very effective methods.

Preventing The Tooth Pain

You probably should take this as a lesson not to overlook visiting your dentists regularly. If necessary, if the problems are really bad, do it every 3 months, not 6. Yes, you may not like the dentists, but avoiding them forever is not a very good life strategy. You can, certainly, achieve somewhat satisfactory results with the above methods to get general and mildly abscessed tooth pain relief, but if the causes for the tooth pain are not treated, the pain will resurface sooner or later.

Other than that you should brush your teeth regularly – whether you use the electrical toothbrushes or the usual ones is up to you.
